We've Never Been More Connected... and More Disconnected

Digital connection concept

We used to shake hands.
Now we hover over reply buttons.
We used to meet face-to-face.
Now we stare into cameras—if we even turn them on.

Technology was supposed to enhance connection, not replace it. But somewhere along the way, we crossed a line.

AI is writing our messages.
Filters are shaping our faces.
Voices are cloned.
Videos are faked.
And we've all learned to squint and ask:
"Is this even real?"

It's not just about fake news or deepfakes—
It's about something deeper: the slow erosion of trust, of human cues, of natural conversation.
The most helpful tools ever created are now making it harder to tell if the person we're talking to is… actually a person.

Interviews happen through screens.
Friendships exist through apps.
Entire relationships are carried by text.

I love AI as a tool. I build with it. I get a second opinion and set of eyes on my work. I believe in its power.
But I also believe in eye contact. In messy, human, unscripted connection.
We need both.
Because the future isn't just about faster answers—it's about remembering what it feels like to be human.

Have we gone too far?

What will it take to make human interaction important again?

What's one human interaction you've missed lately?
